Goo Goo Dolls Release ‘You Ain’t Getting Nothin’ Animated Music Video

To support their new Christmas song release, the quintessential 90s band creates a unique Chuck Jones-style 2D short about a naughty little boy who is sure to receive coal in his stocking this year.

Ho ho no! Out of all the bands coming out with Christmas songs this holiday season, we didn’t expect the Goo Goo Dolls. Not only have they emerged from 90s hibernation to sing about a nasty eight-year-old boy drinking beer, they’ve released a Chuck Jones-style animated music video (think How the Grinch Stole Christmas! from 1966) to go along with it. Watch the festive video for ‘You Ain’t Getting Nothin” below:

The tone of the song is fun and upbeat, but definitely something we seen before: the kid is the villain! We can’t help but think the lead character “Little Johnny” may be influenced by Dolls lead singer John Rzeznik. While the release feels a bit random, any new holiday song is a welcome reprieve from Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You.” The whole album, entitled “It’s Christmas All Over,” is out now.

The short was created by Venturia Animation Studios and produced by Andres Urbina.
