Universal has hired FINDING NEMO writer David Reynolds to adapt Dean Lorey's YA book, NIGHTMARE ACADEMY, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Stephen Sommers and Bob Ducsay will produce.
The first in a trilogy of books was published by HarperCollins in August. Universal preemptively snatched up the rights in a high-six-figure deal last year. The story deals with an academy of students who are trained to police nightmares.
Reynolds other credits include A BUG'S LIFE, CHICKEN LITTLE and the live-action remake THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY.
