DreamWorks Hangs On To Goodman & Deal With Parkes/Macdonald Prods.

DreamWorks Pictures has extended head of production Adam Goodmans contract term for an additional four years through 2009.

"Adam Goodman has been an integral part of our production team since the inception of the studio and, over the past year and a half, he has more than proven his capability to lead that team, said DreamWorks principal David Geffen. We are very happy that he plans to continue to spearhead our live-action slate."

Goodman became head of production for DreamWorks Pictures in February 2004 after serving as a production exec at DreamWorks since 1996. Goodman is overseeing a wide range of upcoming projects for the studio, including DREAMER: INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY, starring Kurt Russell and Dakota Fanning and opening nationwide on October 21; FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, based on the bestselling book, being directed by Clint Eastwood; DREAMGIRLS, the screen version of the Tony Award-winning musical, starring Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, under the direction of Bill Condon; and TRANSFORMERS, the actioner based on the popular Hasbro toy franchise.

In a related move, Geffen announced that the studio is extending its production deal with Parkes/MacDonald Productions -- headed by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald -- to Dec. 31, 2008. The producing pair's next movie for DreamWorks is the romantic comedy, JUST LIKE HEAVEN, starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo under the direction of Mark Waters, opening nationwide on September 16. Parkes and MacDonald are in development on The Kite Runner, based on the novel by Khaled Hosseini about a young man who returns to his native war-torn Afghanistan to right a childhood wrong. Parkes and MacDonald will produce the film, with Sam Mendes exec producing.

DreamWorks was formed in October 1994 by its three principal partners -- Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. The studio is actively involved in the production of live-action motion pictures and network and cable television programs, and the distribution of live-action and animated feature films, as well as home video entertainment.
