Dream Works Animation has hired former Nickelodeon Movies development vp Damon Ross as a senior development exec. Ross's main duty will be acquiring and developing literary properties as well as original projects. He will work on the day-to-day development of features at the studio with Chris Kuser.
The new DreamWorks exec will report to the studio's head of creative development and production Bill Damaschke and head of development Kristine Belson.
"Damon perfectly rounds out our development team here at DreamWorks," Damaschke said. "He has an amazing reputation for spotting the potential in writers and literary works while also being able to develop and produce enduring film properties. Ross came to Nick Movies at its launch in New York 12 years ago. While there he was responsible for bring in such top-notched literary properties as LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES, ANGUS, THONGS AND FULL FRONTAL SNOGGING and SECTOR 7.
