Destin Daniel Cretton in Talks to Direct ‘Spider-Man 4’

The ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ filmmaker would join franchise writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers on the yet untitled film; Tom Holland returns in titular role.

Our spidey franchise senses are tingling. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is currently in talks to direct Spider-Man 4. Jon Watts directed the previous three Spider-Man films. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are returning to pen the script.

The fourth installment of the current Spider-Man iteration once again stars Tom Holland, although plot details are unclear. In No Way Home, a magical snafu causes the entire world to forget Peter Parker, including his best buddies MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon).

Cretton was previously on board to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but departed following the Jonathan Majors legal debacle, which drastically changed both the plot and production of the project. The creative has also lent his talents on Wonder Man, the upcoming Disney+ series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Spider-Man 4 is a co-production between Sony and Marvel Studios. Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal will produce.
