Crunchyroll’s ‘Spy x Family Code: White’ Hitting Theaters April 19

The anime destination also revealed theatrical release dates for ‘Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle’ and ‘Blue Lock the Movie -Episode Nagi-.’

Crunchyroll announced the acquisition and theatrical release dates for three new films: HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle, Blue Lock the Movie -Episode Nagi- and Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom. The announcement at the company’s first-ever CinemaCon presentation also treated attendees to a sneak peek of the first 10 minutes of the upcoming Crunchyroll film Spy x Family Code: White, which hits theaters on April 19 in North America.

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle:

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will release Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle in North American theaters on May 31, 2024, screening both in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.

In addition to the North American theatrical release, international release dates announced include:

In the film, Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High’s volleyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the “Little Giant.” But Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” the long-awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?

The screenplay is by director Susumu Mitsunaka from an original story by Haruichi Furudate. Production I.G produces.

Blue Lock the Movie -Episode Nagi-

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment’s North American theatrical release of Blue Lock the Movie -Episode Nagi- begins June 28, 2024, screening in both Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English. International release dates will be announced.

The first film from the popular anime sports franchise, Blue Lock the Movie -Episode Nagi- is a side story to the series, following high schooler Nagi Seishiro as he discovers his hidden talent for soccer.

Blue Lock Season 1 is now streaming on Crunchyroll.

In the film, “That’s a hassle,” was second-year high schooler Nagi Seishiro’s favorite phrase as he lived his dull life. Until Mikage Reo, a classmate who dreamed of winning the World Cup, discovered Nagi’s hidden skill, inspiring him to play soccer and share his outstanding talent. One day, he receives an invitation to the mysterious Blue Lock Project. What awaits him is an encounter with the finest strikers assembled from across the country. Nagi’s dream of becoming the best, alongside Reo, will take this prodigy to a world he’s never known.

Shunsuke Ishikawa directed the screenplay by Taku Kishimoto, which is based on an original story by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and inspired by manga by Kouta Sannomiya. Character design is by Yusuke Nomura, music is by Jun Murayama, and Eightbit produces.

Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom

Crunchyroll acquired North America and selected international theatrical rights in EMEA and Latin America for the video game fantasy film Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom.

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute to theaters in select territories; release dates to be announced.

Overlord franchise’s first theatrical film is based on the light novels by Kugane Maruyama and is a continuation of the series, picking up after the conclusion of Season 4. The story follows Momonga, a regular salary man who finds himself transported into his favorite video game. All four seasons of Overlord are now available to stream on Crunchyroll.

In the film, after 12 years of playing his favorite MMORPG game, Momonga logs in for the last time only to find himself transported into its world, playing it indefinitely. Throughout his adventures, his avatar ascends to the title of Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown.

Character design and chief animation direction is by Satoshi Tasaki, illustrated by so-bin, with music from Shuji Katayama (Team-MAX). Madhouse produces the film.
