6 artists have been selected to be mentored by an animation professional as they develop their project; program runs April 17- May 24.
The Cinémathèque Québécoise has announced the six young artists participating in its sixth Animation Residency April 17 to May 24. Each resident will have a mentor, chosen from the city's animation film professionals, who will coach and provide them with artists inspiration. The will have over a month to develop their project with the help of the expertise available at the Cinémathèque, the vast animation collections of the institution as well as Montreal's cultural buzz. The program will announce the mentors shortly.

The program has seen the completion of multiple works since its conception: Étreintes by Justine Vuylsteker (France, 2016 resident); Aérobie by Bastien Dupriez (France, 2016 resident); the Caresses magiques series by Lori Malépart-Traversy (Quebec, resident 2016); Mouvements by Dahee Jeong (Korea, resident 2017); The Fourfold by Alisi Telengut (Quebec, resident 2016); La soupe de Franzy by Ana Chubinidze (Georgia, resident 2018); La passante by Hannah Letaïf (Belgium, resident 2017); Box Cutters by Naomi Van Niekerk (South Africa, resident 2018); La saison pourpre by Clémence Bouchereau (France, resident 2018); L'ombre des papillons by Sofia El Khyari (France, resident 2019); as well as the installation Monade by Boris Labbé (France, resident 2019). The last three titles were selected for the official short film competition of the upcoming Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
