Charlie's Angels Still Kickin', Grinch & Dino Close On Heels At IBO

CHARLIE'S ANGELS is still kicking at the international box office, but HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS and DINOSAUR are knocking on the door. The premiere of ANGELS in Germany knocked THE GRINCH out of the top spot with a gross of $4.1 million. THE GRINCH fell to second with a ticket take of $1.98 million, elevating its German cume to $4.58 million. In its third week in Germany, DINOSAUR slipped to third with gross of $1.7 million, advancing its cume to $9.52 million. In fourth, THE CELL captured another $1.58 million, pushing its German cume to $4.52 million. Closing out the top ten in Germany, SPACE COWBOYS added an additional $168,441 to its $4.43 million cume. In Australia, CHARLIE'S ANGELS held off the debut of THE GRINCH to remain #1, grossing $2.2 million, thus lifting its cume to $6.01 million. In second, THE GRINCH garnered $1.99 million. UNBREAKABLE made its nod Down Under with a third place finish and a ticket take of $1.98 million. WHAT LIES BENEATH sunk to fifth with a gross of $295,135, raising its Australian cume to $5.54 million. In seventh, SNATCH stole $256,535, increasing its Australian take to $3.28 million. THE CELL grabbed the #8 spot, with a gross of $205,335, bringing its Australian cume to $1.78 million. The South African premiere of CHARLIE'S ANGELS beat out the debut of SHAFT, claiming the top spot with a gross of $522,706. SHAFT placed second with a gross of $241,815. In sixth, THE CELL took home $36,808, growing its South African cume to $186,458. SNATCH finished in seventh, with a gross of $22,528, increasing its South African cume to $100,227. At #8, WHAT LIES BENEATH floated an additional $19,631, elevating its South African cume to $718,835. In ninth, ROMEO MUST DIE added $19,547 to its $247,964 South African cume. In Japan, CHARLIE'S ANGELS held tightly to the top spot in its fourth week, with a ticket take of $794,565, escalating its cume to $3.88 million. In second, THE EXORCIST scared up another $689,734, bringing its Japanese cume to $1.43 million. SPACE COWBOYS docked in fourth place with a gross of $325,661, advancing its Japanese cume to $2.53 million. From Toei in sixth, SHIN JINGINAKI TATAKAI mustered $243,223, lifting its Japanese cume to $396,125. In eighth, SHAFT locked up $180,900, raising its Japanese cume to $948,585. THE HOLLOW MAN harnessed $146,791 in ninth, growing its Japanese cume to $4.45 million. Over in Hong Kong, CHARLIE'S ANGELS placed second with a gross of $302,891, bringing its cume to $793,549. In fourth, BEDAZZLED seduced $169,141 in its premiere. In Spain, CHARLIE'S ANGELS' debut couldn't knock WHAT LIES BENEATH out of the top slot, which grossed $2.2 million, escalating its two-week cume to $4.03 million. ANGELS rounded up $1.75 million in second. THE GRINCH also made a lackluster nod in Spain, placing fourth with a gross of $730,149. In Mexico, the BEDAZZLED premiere took the #1 spot and CHARLIE'S ANGELS was knocked to third. BEDAZZLED took home $2 million with ANGELS securing $1.06 million, thus raising its Mexican cume to $1.41 million. In sixth, SPACE COWBOYS lassoed an additional $167,291, climbing its Mexican cume to $1.72 million. THE CELL saddled $112,192 in seventh, bringing its Mexican cume to $2.31 million. THE ADVENTURES OF ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE flew in with $91,828, increasing its Mexican cume to $1.36 million. Rounding out the Mexican top ten, SCARY MOVIE added $82,449 to its $5.89 million cume.
