FOX’s ‘Bob’s Burgers’ wins the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program; HBO’s 'Game of Thrones' wins its third-consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Special and Visual Effects.
TV’s top talent was honored Saturday night, August 16, at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Bob’s Burgers won the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program for the episode “Mazel Tina” written by Holly Schlesinger and directed by Brian LoSchiavo. This was the first win for the FOX animated series, which has been nominated a total of three times. Bob’s Burgers beat out FX’s Archer, Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Comedy Central series Futurama and South Park.
Disney’s Mickey Mouse won in the short-form category for the episode “‘O Sole Minnie,” beating out Cartoon Network series Adventure Time and Regular Show, along with Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb, and Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken.
Voice over talent Harry Shearer was also awarded his first Emmy, although the actor was not on hand to receive it. The veteran stage and screen actor was awarded Best Character Voice-Over performance category for his work on The Simpsons for last season’s Four Regrettings and a Funeral, in which Shearer voices Kent Brockman, Mr. Burns, Younger Burns and Smithers. It was not only Shearer’s first Emmy, it was also the first Emmy in the newly spun-off best character voice-over category.
