Hey everyone!
My name is Ralph Sutter, and if all goes well I should be graduating this semester from the New England Institute of Art with a BA of Science in Media Arts and Animation.
I inititially wanted to be an (3D) animator, but soon found myself lured more toward the character creation side of things. Over the course of my semester I will be posting my portfolio stuff in here, hoping that I can get some valuable feedback from you guys!
For now I have some Portfolio art:

Please, let me know if you have any suggestions! Any crits and comments would be appreciated. I am trying to make my portfolio as awesome as can be :)
Sincerely,
Ralph
PS. On a side note, in a week or two I should have my specific modeling/character artist reel up.
Are you looking to do work on character development, I can see you have some mad skills there.
Thank you very much! :)
Yes, I'm definitely looking into becoming a character artist. I love creating characters! Especially in 3D. Zbrush has sort of become my for te over the course of my college career.

I hate zbrushes interface and environment but know one can deny how easy sculpting is in it. Im assuming your comfortable with zspheres but did you learn to model a character without the use zspheres
All of those characters' bases were polymodeled in MAX. I actually do not like modeling with Zspheres all that much. :)
My Portfolio
Here's the second draft of my demo reel with some changes made in the arrangement of sequences and a couple of extra additions. Main changes were made per the teacher's crits:

Please let me know what you think!

then you have everything covered, I looked at your reel the characters are good. I dont know how long you have been doing animation but Im going to assume not that long. if thats the case the animation may take a little longer than the modeling
Thank you for the kind words :) I definitely need to work on my animation. But, I will have plenty of time to brush up and polish after graduation. Most of my projects up until now had to be handed in within 2 weeks...
So if you have to model, unwrap, texture, rig, light and animate it all...Something's going to give :(
Slight Update
Here's a quick render with volume light, color correction and film grain. This will be the palette and tone for the film.
I'm hoping to replicate that Western-look :)
