Setting The Mode Or Background Music

This is not really a problem but I thought I would through it out here anyway.
Currently I am working on my first project, storyboarding, character design and so forth.

In my head I am seeing images only, no music or dialog. Music to set the mod of the piece just is not between my ears. If you look at Pascal's works it would make sence if MUZAK was playing in the background. Muzak would set the mode so, I am guessing, Pascal might be playing Muzak in his head as he does his work.

Also currently I am comparing cartoons with their devices to control mode. For example, there are two different Yu-Gi-Oh running with, to me, two different modes.

I am just trying to wrap my brain cell around this, because as some point this is going to become a big issue.

Music or background sound has always been key to the way I work. Sometimes I have an idea of what I'd like to work on then go looking for something that fits. But my best ideas have been as a result of the sound file first. That's just the way I work. I realize working in a studio is completely different. But for my own personal work the sound comes first.

Personally, I can't seem to escape 60s lounge music.
... Wow, that was unhelpful.
