I am currently working with charcoal and I was wondering who here also uses charcoal, on a steady basics?
I really do not like the mess and once I close my table my work is changed. What I do like about charcoal is that it is not shiny and black is true black.
Charcoal pencils are sold individually and in sets, often in cedar casings. They have a more developed rating system than compressed charcoal, using the European pencil hardness schema that is used for graphite drawing pencils. There are twenty ratings of drawing pencils in the full range, though charcoal pencils are only offered in certain of the softer ratings. The pencils are rated for hardness (H) and blackness (B). The harder the pencil, the less black, and vice versa.
Do you use charcoal on a regular basis? I might not abandon charcoal, just keep it at home so my work does not smear.
I will take a look at the charcoal pencils the next time I go to the store.
Ok, you like to cook with charcoal but do not like to draw with it.
Haha, nice.
I'd also be interested in finding a charcoal alternative that does not smear so much. I do enjoy true black in a dry medium!
