And your point is?
Good point - I'm not being clear.
As you all know, a walk-cycle is not just a walk-cycle, but a way of expressing emotion and charactor. With a few differant words this might become more explicit. Say it's a trudge-cycle and that point is made.

Larry's post kinda proves Yog's point. It illustrates boilerplate poses for a generic walk cycle. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing unique, distinctive, or emotive about it either. It's more of a technical schematic than a performance.
Yog's made a good point here; think about what kind of walk you want to do and define the elements that create the movement style you're after. You have to go beyond the basics in order to truly craft a performance.
At the same time it's easier to relate to any kind of walk by deciphering its extremes, whether they're ups, downs, highs, lows, banana-strawberry or East Indian. "Pillars" as it were.
Their right! This is a just a basic "bioler plate" walk- but it's a goood basic place to begin.
Watch people- watch their weight - the hips, the spine and the shoulders...
Think about how these can be used in a CHARACTER walk.
Thanks

Yeah,
Check out ASK (Animation Survival Kit) by Richard Williams. It's got a large section dedicated to bringing unique appeal to a walk that can define a character (look at Goofy's walk for example? Practically made the character in the 30's). He starts off showing basic steps then shows how too build on it. Cause after all, nobody walks exactly the same....
