I've just made a short animation based upon St Simeon Stylites - a 4th century ascetic saint who lived upon a pillar for thirty-odd years in the Syrian desert. What fascinates me most about Simeon is that his rejection of the world reminds me of the Biblical theme that 'everything is meaningless' (Ecclesiastes 1). Simeon in this animation is based in the modern day and lives on top of a tower block.

It is a work in progress at the mo. It's meant to be very simple to reflect the childlike simplicity of Simeon's life.
Tell me what you think of it on this message board please
Interesting...Basically could be a series of strips with the Saint on a pillar, right?
Btw...I don't believe lfe is meaningless...I don't think that was the point of that scripture....even though that's how we feel when we, even King Solomon, don't understand things. Ecclesiastes reads like a guy soul searching and thinking out loud.
What I got from it:
Sh*t happens.
God's in charge.
I've redone the St Simeon anime quite a bit... please take a look at http://www.leoearle.com/simeon/.
many thanks

Nice. I like very much the idea and the whole melancholic mood.
I think you can go futher with design and animation, to take them to the same level as the story.
Btw, I just posted this link about movies for mobile (your another post) at Animation cafe:

cheers edikm, I agree I need to think about the style much more... what do you think of this: http://www.fotolog.net/leoearle/?pid=10705311
it's a v simple drawing style that reflects Simeon, perhaps I could animate it?
thanks
Leao
In my opinion , your pencil drawings look much better then what you've done in Flash. You can try to incorporate that style in Flash, or to do it all hand-drawn. But please, don't take my advice as some wisdom. It;s just an idea, you can think differently.
Good luck !
