First time travelling to Annecy, a place that has such a positive canotation just through people talking about how it was like when they visited the Festival, that thinking about coming myself was tempting for quite some time already. Now I took the chance. We have arrived late on Tuesday, June 7th taking it slowly from sunny bohemian Prague to a slightly rainy, but still pretty warm, French town on a lake under the Alps. That’s one nice and picturesque idea to explore this week.

First time travelling to Annecy, a place that has such a positive canotation just through people talking about how it was like when they visited the Festival, that thinking about coming myself was tempting for quite some time already. Now I took the chance. We have arrived late on Tuesday, June 7th taking it slowly from sunny bohemian Prague to a slightly rainy, but still pretty warm, French town on a lake under the Alps. That’s one nice and picturesque idea to explore this week.
So although we arrived later then planned, missed the organizers at the desk to pick our accreditations, missed our first reserved screening, missed our bus from the place we're staying (and back), It’s Annecy: relaxed and good in the little things. Seems like, feels like.
On the Geneva airport shuttle to Annecy, I asked a group of guys from Singapore how they were doing. Found out they work for their government. Thought it was cool (at least I tried to be sympathetic) but they smiled and said “We don’t think so.” But how come? After all, their government sent them to Annecy, right??
The town is so historic, and yet small which is a good thing I appreciate, with its unique atmosphere and festival vibe and prestige, there is a natural expectation for the days to come. And yet already as we arrived, we met a Czech producer and agreed to have something to eat. It was getting late. We showed him one of our pilots, he loved it, yeah, wanna meet again. Great. Couldn’t we do that in Prague?
And forget about busses and taxis, we could not wait for either so tried to hitchhike the locals, and... it worked. They pulled over and gave us a ride in and out. A cool climber with dreadlocks with bunch of ropes in the back I had to sit on. Climbing is great, tried it myself, I’m still too weak to be a good climber (I guess I animate too much) but it’s one great way UP. We’ll see on Wednesday for the first time what’s up there at Mifa.
