The award-winning ‘Coraline’ and ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ studio’s head of animation, Brad Schiff, was on hand for the launch of the first stop-motion studio at a historically Black college and university (HBCU), as well as first at an institution of higher learning in the state of Maryland.
Initiative provides $200k to two Historically Black Colleges and Universities to fund scholarships, mentorships, and internships for students studying arts, communications, animation, or entertainment; program kicks off 2022-2023 school year with scholarships at Howard University in Washington, DC, and Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.
Partnership and donation will enhance BSU’s animation curriculum, building on award-winning studio’s existing career/internship pipeline for the university’s students.
