Portman said she was the one who introduced the book to the three filmmakers and will have a small role in the production once financing comes together. Other rumored cast members include Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Ian McKellen and James McAvoy. The epic 2004 novel takes place over thousands of years, featuring six main characters in each of the time threads.
