TV Asahi Announces ‘Shin chan’ Indian Theatrical Releases

‘Shin chan Our Dinosaur Diary’ will release in May, while ‘Shin chan the Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India’ is scheduled to release during Diwali season in October.

TV Asahi has announced Shin chan Our Dinosaur Diary and Shin chan The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India will both release theatrically in India in May and October, respectively. Both films will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Japanese with English subtitles and will be distributed by India’s PVR INOX Pictures Limited.

Shin chan is a fun-loving, mischievous 5-year-old who’s always getting into trouble with his baby sister, Himawari, who loves cute boys and shiny gems.

“2025 is likely to become a major milestone for our Shin chan team,” said Maiko Sumida, Head of Animation Sales & Development at TV Asahi. “It has been our long-standing dream to release "Shin chan the Movie" in theatres in India, the movie superpower!  We are thrilled that children who are currently watching Shin chan on TV, as well as those who grew up watching it, will be able to enjoy Shin chan's adventures on the big screen.  To enhance the excitement for the Indian audience, we have dubbed the movies into Hindi, Tamil and Telegu.  We hope that this will not only provide fans with an unforgettable cinematic experience but also lead to further collaborations, tie-ups, and licensing opportunities for the brand.”

Globally, the Shin chan series has been one of the most prolific animations for over 30 years, with more than 820 episodes, broadcast in over 45 countries including, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Mexico, and Chile.
