TurboSquid.com, the world's largest online marketplace for stock 3D models, has reached the 200,000 mark in number of unique products for sale.
The TurboSquid product catalog has increased steadily since TurboSquid's launch in 2000. At that time, the idea of a website where artists could buy and sell 3D content was new. 3D artists and other graphics professionals quickly embraced the concept, and now everything from 3D tractor-trailers to detailed anatomical parts can be found at TurboSquid.
The figure of 200,000 products is only the tip of the iceberg, said Michele Bousquet, Director of Marketing at TurboSquid. "That's just the number of individual catalog items. Some of them contain multiple files and textures. For example, a collection of cars might contain 14 cars. The total number of all items is actually over 900,000."
