Turbo Squid Releases File System for Tentacles 3D Plug-in

Turbo Squid has launched the File System, the newest addition to Turbo Squid's free Tentacles' 3D application plug-in. Tentacles is a Flash-based plug-in that integrates the entire Turbo Squid online library and purchasing process into a variety of popular 3D applications, enabling users to browse, compare and purchase 3D content (including models, textures, MoCap data and much more) without ever leaving the 3D applications in which they are working. Now with the File System within Tentacles, artists will be able to store, manage and organize all of their work in one secure, central location on the web giving them an instant backup for their critical files. In addition, artists will be able to create their own private online workspaces in order to share designs with co-workers, fostering a collaborative environment between team members on a project.

Tentacles is available now for the following 3D applications: Autodesk 3ds Max (v7/8/9), Autodesk Maya (v7/8/), SOFTIMAGE |XSI (v4.2/5.1/), Cinema 4D (v9.5). Additional versions of Tentacles for more applications are due out later this year.

Tentacles streamlines and simplifies the workflow of 3D artists. With Tentacles and the File System artists can perform the following functions without leaving a 3D application window:* Free online storage for all of your media, materials, models and more * Workspaces. Secure and shareable. Invite clients and collaborators to see and contribute to your projects online * Manage your content library using an advanced file system and search engine * Browse and purchase products from the entire collection of Turbo Squid models * Search for models based on price range, category, file format, date of publication or "trusted user" rating * Compare products side-by-side * Save payment information and wish lists * Unpack and import models into 3D applications from the Tentacles shopping cart

"The File System for Tentacles is just the tip of the iceberg," explained Matt Wisdom, co-founder and CEO of Turbo Squid. "Just as the 3D community, Turbo Squid is in a constant state of evolution and by incorporating the File System to our portfolio we are catering to our artists' needs."

Tentacles is free and available now at http://www.turbosquid.com/tentacles.
