French children’s television leader TFOU (TF1) is proud to announce that we have received over 50 applications from nine European countries for the 1st edition of our European animation contest: TFou d’Animation. We are honored to consider the work of a plethora of animation talent from France, Switzerland, Hungry, Bulgaria, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Germany and Great Britain.
Each application includes a detailed storyboard, and synopsis for a 30 second animated film that addresses TFou’s upcoming civic duty campaign for 2010 focusing on the importance of healthy eating habits and physical exercise. TFou is very impressed with the high quality of the applications received as well as the variety of animation techniques including 2D, 3D, pate à modeler, puppets etc…
TFou d’Animation was launched this past June at the MIFA market in Annecy during the annual international animation festival. This unique contest reinforces TF1 Jeunesse’s commitment to innovation, cultivating emerging animation talent across Europe, as well as our desire to put artists in direct contact with children.
Every project received will be carefully reviewed by our artistic staff. We plan to choose at least five films for production. We have attributed a budget of 5000 euros per film. Once the selection of commissioned films has been made, each production will be put in direct contact with children via a blog on our website www.tfou.fr. This link between artists and their young audience is essential to the success of “TFOU DANIMATION”. We want participants to hear what kids have to say about their work in progress and to cultivate an open exchange with children during the production process.
Once production is complete, kids will have the possibility to vote for their favourite film on tfou.fr. The winning film will be showcased in Annecy next June and subsequently broadcast with all of the commissioned projects on TFou and tfou.fr.
