Timed to coincide with a work-in-progress screening at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, TX, Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a new red-band teaser for the studio’s forthcoming Sausage Party, the R-rated CG animated feature co-written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir.
Sausage Party follows a hot dog named Frank (voiced by Rogan) who falls out of a shopping cart and embarks on an eventful journey to make it back to his shelf before the big Fourth of July sale.
At the SXSW screening, which received very positive reviews, Rogan described Sausage Party as an “R-rated Pixar-style movie” that ends with a promised “food orgy.” Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek also lend their voices to the film, which by all accounts is a dirty, filthy raunchfest on par with South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut that starts off with a slow musical number and builds into pure comedy gold.

Directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, and distributed by Columbia Pictures, Sausage Party will be served up in theaters on August 12, 2016.
