Rushes Completes UPS Commercials

A stunning trilogy of :30 commercials directed by Chris Hartwill for UPS by McCann Erickson follows different global businesses as they succeed and grow with the help of UPS.

The first in the series, GOING GLOBAL, follows two businessmen as they travel the world in search of the perfect parts for the production of their remote control toy cars. The spot quickly cuts between different world cities illustrating how the speed of UPS can help to grow a young business into an established one. The spot closes on the two businessmen as they sip coffee on a Milan balcony having "made it" to the top of their game. We see a UPS van on the ground below.

The next spot, SYNCHRONISED DESPATCH, sees the despatch manager of an established firm employing UPS to improve the efficiency and speed at which they operate. As well as illustrating a synchronized system of delivery through the fast paced cutting of UPS vehicles on different continents we see the Web-based tracking system that allows businesses to give an accurate promise to their clients.

The final spot, SOMEONE KNEW, follows the success story of a small couture house as it searches for the ultimate fabric. Traveling to a small family owned textile manufacturer in a remote part of Asia, we see a UPS van collecting an exotic blue material. Both of the small businesses succeed with the help and speed of UPS.

Rushes vfx artist Emir Hasham says, "Our main challenge lay in making the small factories seen in the commercials grow in stature and strength. To achieve this we had to join three different camera moves together, to give the appearance of one continuous shot. All the three parts were shot in different countries and we used Inferno to help blend and warp theses images together. In the SOMEONE KNEW script, we see the camera move into the viewfinder of a stills camera at a fashion shoot. The camera is about to take the photo just as everyone leaves frame, the flash fires and then we see that someone is holding this photo. In Inferno we tracked the image of the model and extras all the way through this move. In all of these commercials we tracked information into all of the screens, adding reflections to them."
