Ridley Scott has signed on to direct a new BLADE RUNNER film, reports Deadline.com.

Ridley Scott has signed on to direct a new BLADE RUNNER film, reports Deadline.com. He will also produce alongside Alcon heads Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove. Details are very slim on the project that might be a sequel, but could be a prequel. It's also not known whether Scott would he asking the original star Harrison Ford to return.

The original, based on Philip K. Dick's book DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP?, followed Ford's Richard Deckard, a blade runner tasked with hunting down runaway androids called replicants when he falls in love with one.

Alcon has a deal with Warner Bros.
