20th Century Fox's IN TIME debuted in third with $12 million. The futuristic sci-fier has vfx from Luma Pictures, Soho VFX and Wildfire Visual Effects.
Paramount's FOOTLOOSE jumped into fourth with $5.4 million. With vfx from Wildfire Visual Effects, the dance flick has a cume of $38.4 million.
FilmDistrict's THE RUM DIARY premiered in fifth with $5.01 million. The Johnny Depp dramedy has vfx from Furious FX and Hirota Paint Industries (HPI).
Walt Disney/DreamWorks' REAL STEEL tumbled from second to sixth, taking in another $4.7 million. With vfx from Digital Domain, Giant Studios and Legacy Effects, the robot family film has collected $73.9 million in total.
Summit Ent.'s THE THREE MUSKETEERS swung into seventh with $3.5 million. With vfx from Mr. X and Rodeo FX, the swashbuckler has a cume of $14.8 million.
Columbia's THE IDES OF MARCH was elected to the eighth spot, winning $2.7 million. With vfx from Method Studios and Tyrrell FX & Rentals, the political thriller has brought in $33.5 million.
Columbia's MONEYBALL hit $2.4 million in ninth place. With vfx from Rhythm and Hues, the baseball biz flick has amassed $67.4 million.
Columbia's COURAGEOUS closed out the top ten with $1.8 million. The faith-based drama has a cume of $27.6 million.
In other vfx news, Roland Emmerich's ANONYMOUS premiered at #14, earning $1 million on 265 screens.
