The Emmy-nominated series follows a group of superheroes who exploit their tremendous influence and popularity to abuse their superpowers; new season is coming in 2024.
Prime Video released first-look teaser art of Billy Butcher, portrayed by Karl Urban, and Homelander, portrayed by Antony Starr, from the upcoming Season 4 of The Boys. The Emmy-nominated series returns in 2024 and will stream in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The Boys takes a fun, irreverent, and often grizzly look at what happens when superheroes—as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. In the series, a group of vigilantes intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes continues its heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s seemingly powerless against the super-powerful.
The series is based on the New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who serve as executive producers. Eric Kripke developed The Boys and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Seth Rogen; Evan Goldberg; James Weaver; Neal H. Moritz; Pavun Shetty; Phil Sgriccia; Craig Rosenberg; Ken F. Levin; Jason Netter; Paul Grellong; David Reed; Meredith Glynn; and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers.
The show's first live-action spinoff, Gen V, launched this past September on Prime Video. That show expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes - preferably with lucrative endorsements. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they're put to the test: will they be the heroes or the villains?
The Boys is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
Some of the studios handling VFX production on Season 4 include Ingenuity Studios, MR.X, Soho vfx, Spin VFX, and Trend VFX.
