Nick Jr.s number-one preschool heroine Dora gets her own primetime special, DORAS SUPER SILLY FIESTA, broadcast April 12, 2004 at 8:00 pm on Nickelodeon. The special episode invites kids to join Dora on her journey to the Super Silly Fiesta, a party filled with funny games and riddles plus silly songs and all of Doras pals including cousin Diego, Boots, Swiper and the Silly Mail Bird.
DORAS SUPER SILLY FIESTA invites kids to a party that celebrates what makes them laugh, said Brown Johnson, evp, Nick Jr. Nick Jr. knows what preschoolers find funny from silly songs to a dog oinking and a cow meowing and this episode is filled with jokes, songs, and games just for them.
In the half-hour show, the Silly Mail Bird (voice of John Leguizamo) delivers a party invitation to Dora (Kathleen Herles) and Boots (Harrison Chad) for the Big Red Chickens Super Silly Fiesta. When the Big Red Chicken (Chris Gifford) loses his party cake, Dora and Boots come to the rescue to save the fiesta. They must help Diego (Felipe Dieppa) and his mixed-up animals make the Grumpy Old Troll (Chris Gifford) laugh by making silly faces; and take a ride on Ticos amazing car-plane-copter-frog-mobile. When Dora and Boots finally arrive at the Super Silly Fiesta, they find the Big Red Chickens cake, which was on top of his head the whole time.
In conjunction with the specials on-air premiere, Nickjr.com will launch a SUPER SILLY COSTUME MAKER game where preschoolers can dress up Dora and Diego for the big event, as well as Super Silly Activities, including printable dolls and a make-your-own super silly story.
DORA THE EXPLORER, which airs at 10:00 am and 11:00 am weekdays on Nick Jr. and weekends on CBS is a play-along, animated adventure series starring Dora, a seven-year-old Latina heroine whose adventures take place in an imaginative, tropical world that actively engage its audience in an interactive quest using a variety of learning techniques. In each episode, Dora teaches a Spanish word or phrase to the viewers and then asks them to use it to solve a problem.
DORA THE EXPLORER was created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh and Eric Weiner. Gifford serves as exec producer, with Walsh as producer and Weiner as producer and head writer. Jeff deGrandis was supervising producer on the special, which George Chialtas directed at the Nick animation studio in Burbank, California.
