To cover a wider base and lessen potential clients' commutes, Space Division, a new creative editorial and design company has opened offices in Santa Ana and Santa Monica, California. Space Division provides creative editorial, design and finishing for commercials, music videos, feature film and television. Founded by former ARTiFACT principals Christopher Willoughby and Leah Welsh, the Space Division principals report there is a growing demand in Orange County for creative collaboration from local agencies, clients and post facilities. "Besides being five minutes from agencies in Irvine, weve found that Santa Ana is a great location and provides excellent infrastructure," explained executive producer Leah Welsh. Creative director/editor Christopher Willoughby added, "Our goal is to bring the quality of Los Angeles work to our Orange County clients, as well as attract other companies to the area. We want to try something different. We have the ability to edit and finish projects in Santa Monica or in Santa Ana. We can start in one location and finish in the other. It is a very flexible system." Willoughby's credits include music videos for artists such as Madonna, The Police, Van Halen, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, commercials for Adidas, Coca-Cola, Mazda, AT&T and FOX, in addition to titles for TV shows FRIENDS and MARTIN. Welsh was executive producer at ARTiFACT and was previously a senior producer at editorial company Bedlam. In 1992, Willoughby co-founded the legendary Two Headed Monster, a company that specialized in editing and integrating graphic design and special effects into commercials. His awards include a Clio, multiple Gold BDA Awards, Monitor Awards, an MTV Award and a MOMA Award. Space Division is completing a package for Kohls via ad agency Casanova Pendrill, Olympus for truthandadvertising and has ongoing projects via Young & Rubicam for Lincoln/Mercury and Land Rover.
