Today Netflix announced the new anime series, Sakamoto Days, streaming worldwide in January 2025. The streamer also released a teaser trailer (below) that introduces the action-packed assassin adventure inspired by the popular manga of the same name by Yuto Suzuki, serialized since 2020 in Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump.”
The series, produced and animated by TMS Entertainment (LUPIN THE 3rd, Dr. STONE, BAKI), tells the action-packed story of legendary ex-hitman Taro Sakamoto as he bands with comrades to face off against the looming threat of assassins to ensure a peaceful life with his beloved family.
The story follows Taro Sakamoto, the greatest hitman. He is feared by all villains, and revered by all hitmen. Then, one day, he fell in love! When Sakamoto met Aoi the convenience store clerk, it was love at first sight; and just like that, he retired. Sakamoto got married, had a daughter, opened a mom-and-pop store in a quiet town, and completely transformed... into a plus size! To ensure a peaceful life with his beloved family, the legendary ex-hitman takes on a relentless stream of assassin attacks. This is where the action-packed story of ordinary and extraordinary begins.
Masaki Watanabe directs with series composition by Taku Kishimoto and character design is by Yo Moriyama. The voice cast features Tomokazu Sugita (Taro Sakamoto); Nobunaga Shimazaki (Shin Asakura); Ayane Sakura (Lu Shaotang); Nao Toyama (Aoi Sakamoto); Hina Kino (Hana Sakamoto); and Ryota Suzuki (Heisuke Mashimo)
