MTV’s ‘Daria’ Spin-off ‘Jodie’ Now a Feature - Voice Cast Revealed

Animated film spun off from the networks hugely popular series promises to satirize workplace culture, Gen Z struggles, tech, and social media; led by award-winning actress Tracee Ellis Ross, the voice cast includes Pamela Adlon, Kal Penn, William Jackson Harper, and Zosia Mamet.

MTV Entertainment Studios has announced the cast of its new animated film Jodie, a spinoff of MTV’s iconic Daria franchise. According to the studio, the film follows Jodie Landon as she leaves college, moves to a gentrifying city, and begins a job at Firstfinity, a mysterious Google-like tech company. A satire of workplace culture, Gen Z struggles, tech, and social media, the movie it aims to highlight the trials and tribulations of that first post-college job for a new generation. The film is executive produced by writer and showrunner Grace Edwards alongside Ellis Ross and Ashley Kohler of Awesome Inc.

Readers might remember back in 2020, when the spinoff was first announced, Jodie was slated to be an animated series heading to Comedy Central. Though the previously announced “series” has morphed into a movie, diehard Daria fans should be thrilled that Jodie is actually on its way.

The cast is led by Golden Globe winning actress Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) and includes Pamela Adlon (Better Things); Cole Escola (Search Party); Jojo T. Gibbs (Twenties); William Jackson Harper (Love Life); Zosia Mamet (The Flight Attendant); Alex Moffat (Saturday Night Live); Dermot Mulroney (Hanna); Arden Myrin (Insatiable); Kal Penn (Designated Survivor); Kofi Siriboe (Queen Sugar); Dulcé Sloan (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah); and Heléne Yorke (The Other Two).

Here's a line-up of the characters:

  • Jodie (Ross) - The iconic character from Daria, is fresh from college graduation and full of ambition. She heads to the big city for a prestigious internship at tech behemoth, Firstfinity.
  • Jocelyn Light (Adlon) - A trailblazing VP of Internet Affairs at FirstFinity, who Jodie reveres.
  • Ryan (Escola) - Jodie’s intern friend at Firstfinity who is allergic to earnestness.
  • Tiffany (Gibbs) – Cas’ ex, she lives in Jodie’s building and has swag for weeks.
  • Mack (Harper) - Jodie’s witty and supportive high school sweetheart from the original Daria series.
  • Greta (Mamet) - A beachy-waved, self-proclaimed empath and Jodie's fellow intern at Firstfinity.
  • Barry (Moffat) - The overeager internship coordinator at Firstfinity who, despite being in his 50s, desperately tries to be Gen-Z cool.
  • Lionel (Mulroney) - The powerful and charming CEO of Firstfinity.
  • Britney (Myrin) - The former Lawndale cheerleader from Daria turned influencer at FirstFinity.
  • Sandeep (Penn) - Another fellow intern who is a fitness-obsessed, tech bro.
  • Raymond (Kofi Siriboe) - Jodie’s incredibly handsome, but not-so-friendly supervisor at Firstfinity.
  • Cas (Sloan) - Jodie’s fun-loving best friend from college and new roommate. A finance genius and social butterfly, Cas plays as hard as she grinds.
  • Nia (Yorke) - Jodie’s brown-nosing, fellow intern who will do whatever it takes to get ahead.
