Mofac Animation Reveals ‘The King of Kings’ Animated Feature

Directed by Seong-ho ‘Jay’ Jang, the family faith-based film is inspired by Charles Dickens’ short story ‘The Life of Our Lord.'

South Korean animation and VFX studio Mofac Animation is in final stages of production on its first-ever feature-length animated movie, a family faith-based film titled The King of Kings. The film, inspired by Charles Dickens’ short story “The Life of Our Lord,” is a simplified version of the gospels. Dickens wrote the story to share and read aloud to his children to impart religious instruction.

The film follows Dickens, who is troubled by his work/life balance, namely the demands of his writing and his parenting responsibilities. He shares his short story “The Life of Our Lord” with his youngest son, Walter, to help them in their relationship. The reading of Dicken’s short story subsequently becomes a Dicken’s family Christmas tradition.

The film seeks to entertain families and children of all ages with a relatable and understandable tale of the biblical journey.

Seong-ho “Jay” Jang directed The King of Kings, which he co-wrote with Rob Edwards. The production talent includes BAFTA-winning cinematographer Woo-Hyung Kim, composer Tae-seong Kim, and Emmy Award-winning dialogue and casting director Jamie Thomason (Spirited Away, The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Tigger Movie), who also serves as an executive producer alongside Andrew Mann (Imperium, Outcast). Anfernee Kim (Last Knights, John Woo’s The Crossing 2) produced.

“The universal story of Jesus Christ transcends all cultures, creating an automatic entry in theaters across the global marketplace,” explained Kim. “More than 2.5 billion Christians across the planet enthusiastically embrace faith-based entertainment, and that demand expands with a presentation in the form of an engaging, inspirational, appropriately fun yet obviously heartfelt, high-quality animated film that the entire family can enjoy.”

He added, “Obviously, this is a universally appealing story to a wide audience, and we look forward to partnering with the appropriate entity for maximum distribution.”

Mofac Animation is currently seeking distribution partners.
