London --

Family entertainment company Mind Candy has announced plans to produce an animated series based on its hero kids brand Moshi Monsters.

The company will produce a series of 52x11 minute episodes based on the most popular characters from the Moshi world for distribution to both linear and digital platforms. Mind Candy’s Chief Business Development Officer, Darran Garnham, will open distribution discussions with leading global broadcast networks at Licensing Expo in Vegas next week.

Moshi Monsters is a global phenomenon with over 80m registered users in over 150 territories worldwide. The online world MoshiMonsters.com contains over 200 weird and wonderful characters aimed at boys and girls aged 6-12.

Following its online success, Mind Candy expanded the brand into the physical world with a range of consumer products including toys, books, trading cards, two chart-topping DS titles and a magazine. Moshi Monsters(TM) Magazine  builds upon the characters back-stories and has been the UK’s leading monthly magazine for kids since its launch in early 2011. Mind Candy has also built upon and added depth to the characters via a music album and music videos. The brands debut album Moshi Monsters(TM) Music Rox!  topped Madonna in the UK music album charts and went gold in 2012.

Jocelyn Stevenson, Mind Candy’s Executive Creative Producer, Film & TV Projects will lead the production.

Michael Acton Smith, Founder and Creator of Moshi Monsters commented: “We’re looking forward to telling a wide range of new stories with these cartoons and taking the Moshi Monsters characters to new fans all around the world.”

The team will also be at Cartoon Digital and MIPCOM Jr this year to discuss the series and other upcoming TV projects.
