Warner Bros. is backing a film version of Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee that will have BASIC INSTINCT writer Joe Eszterhas and Mel Gibson collaborating on the script, reports Deadline.com. Gibson also has the first option to direct and will definitely be producing via his Icon Prods.
Judah Maccabee, along with his father and four brothers, lead a Jewish rebellion against the Greek-Syrian armies in the second century B.C. Maccabee's victory is the basis of the Hanukkah celebration.
