‘Maebashi Witches’ Anime Debuts April 6, Opening Theme Now Streaming

The full-length version of the Maebashi Witches opening theme “Sugosugi Maebashi Witches!” is now streaming. The song is performed by the Maebashi Witches, a five-member voice actor idol group portraying the anime’s main characters. Lyrics are by Tsunku♂, with composition by TORIENA, and arrangement by Yuki Kishida.

“I wove the cast members’ names and various types of flowers into the melody to create this song,” said Tsunku♂. “Writing the lyrics felt like solving a complex jigsaw puzzle.”

The anime series features the voice talents of Sakura Kasuga as Yuina Akagi; Hinano Sakikawa as Azu Niisato; Rena Motomura as Kyoka Kitahara; Haruka Minami as Choco Mitsumata; and Honami Momose as Mai Kamiizumi.

From Sunrise Studio of Bandai Namco Filmworks, the upcoming series is a coming-of-age anime which follows five aspiring witches. According to Anime News Network, in the show, first-year high school student Yuina Akagi lives an ordinary but unsatisfying everyday life in Maebashi City in Gunma Prefecture. One day, a mysterious frog named Keroppe scouts her and four other girls to become the “Maebashi Witches.” Suddenly, a room closet is connected to a mysterious space that brings the girls to a magical flower shop where they sing, dance, and make other people's wishes come true.

Maebashi Witches is set to debut April 6 on Japanese television.
