Directed by Nako Yamada, the all-new anime series about a prayer that transcends 800 years launches September 15 – a full season ahead of its planned Japanese broadcast.
As part of the Funimation Fall 2021 anime season, the streamer is launching The Heike Story on September 15. The original 2D anime series from studio Science SARU (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!) will be released an entire season ahead of its planned broadcast in Japan.
Directed by Naoko Yamada, the show is inspired by the original story The Tale of the Heike, written by Hideo Furukawa. Reiko Yoshida serves as series composer with music by Kensuke Ushio. The show stars voice actors Aoi Yuki as Biwa and Takahiro Sakurai as Taira no Shigemori.
The Heike Story tells the story of a prayer that transcends 800 years. Check out the first look trailer:
