The Fountain Opens on DVD, HD DVD and Blu-Ray

Darren Aronofsky's THE FOUNTAIN, his thought provoking movie that was six years in the making, arrives May 15, 2007, on DVD, HD DVD Combo and Blu-ray Disc (Warner Home Video, $27.95, $39.99 and $34.99).

The epic saga of THE FOUNTAIN follows one man's (Hugh Jackman) passionate 1,000-year quest to save the woman he loves as he exists in three eras: as conquistador Tomas in 16th-century Spain, as scientist named Tommy in the present day and finally as astronaut Tom in the 26th century. As Tommy struggles to save the life of his wife Izzie (Rachel Weisz), three separate stories converge into one truth, as the Thomas of all periods-warrior, scientist, and explorer-comes to terms with life, love, death and rebirth.

Utilizing his New York-based Amoeba Proteus visual effects company, with Jeremy Dawson and Dan Schrecker serving as vfx supervisors/designers, Aronofsky hired Peter Parks of Imagequest 3D to shoot special vfx microphotography for space elements in a Petri dish. One fundamental component of the movie is a futuristic voyage that Jackman undertakes through space on a spherical ship. He moves through a series of astral backgrounds, ultimately heading toward a dying star. Intelligent Creatures and Giant Killer Robots also provided key but understated vfx work.

THE FOUNTAIN includes the following bonus features:

* Inside THE FOUNTAIN: Death and Rebirth

* Gallery of six featurettes exploring the film's various periods and settings: "Australia," "The 21st Century," "Spain-16th Century," "New Spain," "The Endless Field" and "The Future."
