Disney has the date of release for LONE RANGER, reports Deadline.com. The film, starring Armie Hammer as the masked rider and Johnny Depp as Tonto, will arrive in theaters on Dec. 21, 2012. Gore Verbinski (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN) is directing.
The story follows nearly dead Texas Ranger who is save by Comanche Tonto, who trains the former lawman to be a masked avenger. Justin Haythe, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio penned the screenplay. Jerry Bruckheimer is the producer.
Production is set to start late this year.
