The 2D project, based on the book series by Astrid Desbordes, aims to teach children about emotions, how to listen, verbalizing, and solving everyday problems.
French animation studio Dandelooo is producing the 2D animated kids’ series Max & Rabbit for Canal+, based on the book series written by Astrid Desbordes and illustrated by Pauline Martin.
The series aims to teach children about emotions, how to listen, verbalizing, and solving everyday problems. Clément Céard (Persepolis, Lastman) will direct.
“Canal+ is thrilled to start a new collaboration with the Dandelooo team,” said Christine Cauquelin, Director of Programs and Channels for Documentaries, Youth and Animation at Canal+. “The Max & Rabbit books by Astrid Desbordes and Pauline Martin have conquered our hearts thanks to their modern look, the soft tongue in cheek tone which brings humor. We believe the series will fully match our desire to tell stories to the youngest because the characters are kind, smart and a bit mischievous. We have no doubt that our audience will love this new series.”
Dandelooo and Canal+ previously teamed for Gaston Gets It!, the Annecy 2021 Jury award-winning short Mum is Pouring Rain, and The Upside-Down River, which is currently in production.
“With this new commission, we are thrilled to continue the creative collaboration for this beautiful IP with Nathalie Leffray and Christine Cauquelin from Canal+, building on the great teamwork established during the production of the serialized fantasy series The Upside Down River,” said Dandelooo Producer and Head of International Emmanuèle Pétry.
Dandelooo’s Ooolala studio in Cartoucherie, Valence will animate the project beginning next month. Max & Rabbit is set for a Q4 2025 delivery.
