Comedy Central Announces Development Slate

While Comedy Central has had an impressive string of animated shows premiere this fall the new development slate for 2005 consists chiefly of live-action shows and a video game project. The all-comedy network has closed talent deals with Norm Macdonald and Jamie Kennedy, completed production on five new pilots, including two entertainment show parodies, and greenlit a concert film with network star Dave Attell, it was announced today (Nov. 16, 2004) by Lauren Corrao, svp, original programming and head of development, Comedy Central.

AWN was assured that animation is still an important part of the Comedy Central programming mix. We do have a few ideas in the pipeline, but nothing that is far enough along to warrant inclusion in this announcement, a spokesperson said. The announcement does not represent the entire slate, just those ready to be made public.

HAPPY GAME FUN BOMB, a videogame show hosted by Patton Oswalt and Brian Posehn, this series features a group of comedian gamers who play videogames against a satellite group of real gamers from cities around the country. The show also covers the latest and greatest from the gamer/nerd/geek lifestyle. The videogame project will be exec produced by Rob Cohen (JAMIE KENNEDY EXPERIMENT, JUST SHOOT ME).

The two entertainment show parodies skewer the self-importance of Hollywood (and the plethora of celeb-obsessed shows that cover Tinseltown) and are being eyed as a potential companion to THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART. They include GONE HOLLYWOOD, hosted by Greg Giraldo from Hugh Fink and Pariah Television and THE HOLLYWOOD SHOW, hosted by former DAILY SHOW correspondent Brian Unger who will also exec produce, along with Heidi Clements.
