Bulldog Announces Three New Licensees for Super Why

Press Release from Bulldog Licensing

Bulldog Licensing has announced that three more licensees have been signed for innovative pre-school property SUPER WHY.

SUPER WHY is the only pre-school property created to teach kids the fundamentals of reading through interactive storybook adventures. The award-winning animated series from Out of the Blue Enterprises is currently showing at a prime 6.30pm slot on Nick Jr., where it is regularly bringing in more than 150,000 viewers and has peaked at over 230,000.

SUPER WHY features a team of superhero friends with literacy-based powers, who jump into books for answers to everyday pre-school problems and challenges - the home viewer is the superhero sidekick, who is encouraged to participate in the fun and learning. This standout, multifaceted program focuses on the learning escapades of ever curious and resourceful 6-year-old Whyatt Beanstalk (Jack's younger brother), Red of "Little Red Riding Hood" fame, Littlest Pig from "The Three Little Pigs" and Princess Pea, daughter of the star from the classic "The Princess and The Pea." As soon as a problem arises, Whyatt calls his friends to the Book Club, where they transform into superheroes with reading powers: Alpha Pig with Alphabet Power, Wonder Red with Word Power, Princess Presto with Spelling Power, Super Why with the Power to Read and Super YOU with the Power to Help.

The new licensees are Character World for bedding, Little Star Creations for colouring and activity books, and Redan who will include the title in their widely read Fun To Learn range. The new deals add to an existing licensing programme that includes RC2 as master toy licensee and Cesar for hanging and boxed dress-up, whilst Melbry Events is conducting a series of events in shopping malls across the UK, where kids get the chance to meet their heroes from the show.

"We are delighted to have signed three more top licensees," says Bulldog MD Rob Corney, "it's further evidence of just what a hot property Super WHY is. There will be plenty more to come during the rest of 2009 -- the RC2 range is set to grow throughout the year and we are also due to announce new licensees for apparel and several other new sectors."
