The 19th Brussels Cartoon and Animated Film Festival will start next Monday
and run until March 11, 2000. This year, the festival hosts a workshop with
Hungarian director Ferenc Cako, a master at the art of animating sand and
clay, as well as puppets and cut-outs, all forms of animation which he has
been using for over 30 years. The workshop will be held from March 6-10,
2000. The course will end with the making of his latest film, "Labyrinth,"
which will be screened at the Festival's closing ceremony. In addition to
the official selection, the Brussels festival will present six
international programs of short films, two international programs of
student films, two programs of Belgian films, and a variety of
retrospectives, tributes and exhibitions. The festival will also present
Anima 2000, a 4-day industry event with various conferences, screenings and
