The long-awaited DVD release of Disney's BAMBI (1942) will arrive on March 1, 2005, according to Buena Vista Home Ent. in a two-disc set priced at $30. It has been eight years since the sublime masterpiece has been available for the home entertainment system. And while the studio is touting digitally restored picture for greater color and clarity, we will have to wait and see how well the DVD captures the natural effect of the original film.
Among the bonus features is "Walt's Annotated BAMBI, which will allow viewers to "experience, firsthand, the production of BAMBI as it is happening through Walt's words" with footage, production drawings and the assistance of voice actors.
There are also additional scenes in various stages of development, a making of doc, a music video, an interactive game hosted by Patrick Stewart (X-MEN and STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION) and a sneak peek at the upcoming BAMBI II: GREAT PRINCE OF THE FOREST, a DVD premiere feature in the works with the participation of character animator Andreas Deja.
