The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences handed out the Oscars on Sunday, March 7th. In the world of animation, Pete Docter won the Best Animated Feature Film for Pixar's UP. In addition to Best Animated Feature, Michael Giacchino won the Oscar for UP's original score.
In a surprise win, LOGORAMA took home the prize for Best Animated Short Subject. In a bit of controversy, producer Nicolas Schmerkin was submitted to the Oscars as a temporary nominee until the official nominees between the three directors, Francois Alaux, Herve de Crecy, Ludovic Houplain, could be determined, however the Academy would not let a change be made after the nominations were announced. In the shorts category, the Academy only allows two nominees.
