Animation Block Party Needs Your Halloween-Themed GIFs for GIFoween

Brooklyn’s Animation Block Party teams with GIPHY for a special Halloween-themed GIF event on October 26; deadline for entries is October 7.

Animation Block Party has announced a special Halloween-themed GIF event sponsored by the amazing loopers at GIPHY!

On Wednesday, October 26th, Animation Block Party will be presenting GIFoween at Brooklyn Bazaar, located at 150 Greenpoint Ave. It’s a free event and doors open at 7pm.

If you’re a visual artist and would like to enter your work to be screened, it’s easy to get involved: just create an account at GIPHY.com and upload your spooky GIFs by October 7th.

“It’s wild how everything today is digital-blips of conversation, as if we can’t remember a time before texting memes to our besties,” ABP founder Casey Safron says of the contest. “When MTV started, critics were shocked by how quickly images flashed by in videos. Decades later, 1980’s visual pacing seems antique. Millennial artists are making audiences blink at increasingly rapid rates, to the point where animators now tell entire stories in five-second loops.”

GIFoween will be a ride through the ultimate in spine-tingling cartoon fun, featuring radically creepy prizes and more supernatural goodness than most humans can handle. The world’s current obsession with GIFs begins and ends with animation loops.

This October, join Animation Block Party for an incredible program of haunted animation. One night only at Brooklyn Bazaar! RSVP here.
