ANIMA MUNDI is the only event dedicated entirely to the art of animation in South America and attracts an audience of more than 65,000 people. The festival runs in Rio de Janeiro from July 8-17, then moves to São Paulo from July 20-24. It is free to enter.
The festival presents shorts and feature films and videos from all over the world, retrospectives of notable animator directors, presentations from special guest speakers, art exhibitions, workshops by renown world artists and the Open Studio -- classes open to the general public that includes the techniques of zoetrope, drawing on film, paper, clay, pixilation and computer animation.
