Raunchy 2D-animated satire directed by Chris Prynoski and featuring the voices of Paul Rudd and Patton Oswalt set for one-night theatrical event on Tuesday, December 6.
In anticipation of the film’s one night in theaters on Tuesday, December 6, here’s a closer look at Nerdland, the first full-length animated feature from Titmouse.
A wild tale of two slacker best friends, the 2D-animated Nerdland features aspiring actor John (voiced by Paul Rudd) and wannabe screenwriter Elliot (Patton Oswalt), both of whom have seen their dreams of super-stardom fizzle. With their 30th birthdays looming and desperation growing, they decide that in this 24/7, celebrity-obsessed world of over-shared navel-gazing, there are more ways to get famous than ever before -- so why not become famous by the end of the day, at any cost? Hannibal Buress, Mike Judge, Molly Shannon and Kate Micucci & Riki Lindhome of Garfunkel & Oates fame also voice roles.
The animatics, concept art and character sketches provide insight into Titmouse’s internal development process. And, as the backdrop for Elliot and John’s antics, a beautifully rendered Los Angeles plays a major role as well.
Directed by Chris Prynoski, Nerdland is written by Andrew Kevin Walker, produced by Gavin Polone and Andrew Kevin Walker, executive produced by Kathy Landsberg, Chris Prynoski, and Shannon Barrett Prynoski, co-produced by Ben Kalina, with production design by Antonio Canobbio, and music by Night Club. The production companies are AKW Worldwide, Pariah, and Titmouse, with animation provided by Titmouse.
Following its world premiere at Tribeca earlier this year, Nerdland went on to screen at Annecy, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, and the Beyond Fest. The raunchy satire debuts in movie theaters nationwide for one night only via Fathom Events on Tuesday, December 6 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
