Perhaps less an animation influence for many, and more an influence of imagination. Ralph McQuarrie was a personal inspiration to me in my early adulthood artistic endeavours. His Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica pre-production art spoke to me in ways that few artist's work ever has. There was a sense of grandeur in his paintings, of adventure and wonder.
There are little nuances that I picked up from him that still show in my drawing, and there is always new things to learn from whenever I even glance at his work today.
He was a true master. I bow my head in sadness, and respect.
He shall be missed.

I had to look up McQuarrie and I saw all those fantastic posters and models.
He did great work.
