8 poses strung together with here and there tweens. Derived from Bruce Lee's first starring role. Just read the Walt Stanchfield notes over at AnimationMeat and it helped me knock out these better rough poses, which in turn make for stronger animation. Note one of the frames is nothing but drag/smear, which moves horizontally across and makes a nice chronological contrast to the subsequent vertical peak height of the kick.
Nice job. I like the way it feels like his hips move first, then the kick follows. Colors are good too.

This was one of those situations with thoughtless tweens. I was more concerned about getting drawings between the poses to smooth out rather than to be meaningful. I'd actually like it to be a mix of smoother/quicker during the beginning of the turnaround at the...er...end =) And also, his arm should arc under to read better. I realize it was based off of live action, but it almost feels "forced" to keep it suspended like a bird wing up top.
Thanks for the kudos. I think the original film color was something akin to a slate blue, but I like the intensities of the stock royal blue. I like the way Yakko-style beige/tan pants work with blue, but when I started with a dark brown I decided to make it a shadow color, and orange pants satisfied a brown's local color or highlight, while also being a complementary color to the shirt at the same time. The simple lines of shadow (though inaccurate in places) help bolster what little dimension is evident through the 'searching' marks.
