I'm looking for ways to efficiently paint backgrounds, colour keys and simply make illustrations at the moment and even though I've known about it for a while, Corel's Painter series has only recently started to really intrigue me. I want to abandon my brushes and crayons for a while to dabble in digital means of producing elaborately painted images.
Anyone who uses Painter (or an equal program), please tell me about how it handles, what its advantages/disadvantages are (well, apart from the steep costs), whether it's easy to learn and produces good-looking results without the user having to know the program code inside out, what tools are required to use it (system specs, screen measurements, wacom tablet etc.) - in short, what's the chant?
I'd be grateful for links to good online tutorials as well!
