I am looking for expressions of interest from venture capitalists in funding and establishing a private digital art school in Moscow, Russia.
I am from New Zealand, and work as a digital artist in London. I worked in Moscow for two years at Mbl Studio and at Mosfilm (BSGraphics). It was an interesting environment, but I observed and others agreed, that there is little formal training of any kind for art or digital art weighted towards those interested in acquiring skills for the film, broadcast or game industry.
Many Russians are self-didacts, and the Russian CG community on-line offers many healthy forums, however there are no recognised qualifications to obtain or standards, or any bodies promoting a culture of CG excellence in the industry.
I am interested in establishing a high quality atelier style of school in Moscow, with the drive towards official accreditation and software certification, which would offer courses focused around in demand software, principles of art (film grammar, drawing, animation fundamentals, compositing, and cinematography). And encourage artistic career fundamentals like production design, workflow, project management, and self-marketing.
Offering a high level of education depends primarily on securing exceptional teachers, building a sense of community online, and operating from a strong facility, and to this end I am interested in accumulating expressions of interest, information and feedback, in order to find potential business partnership.
